Sign up for an information sessionMany students in pre-vocational secondary education, special education and practical education are less likely to come into contact with the wide range of arts and culture from school. That is why it remains relevant to invest in cultural education for pre-vocational secondary education, special education and practical education. We do this because we believe it is essential that all children and young people have the same opportunities and possibilities to develop culturally.
With this scheme, we offer cultural institutions the opportunity to explore, develop and implement cultural education projects in pre-vocational secondary education, special education and practical education. Cultural education also includes heritage education.
Who can apply for a subsidy?
Subsidy can be requested by cultural institution established in the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The request is always for the collaboration between the cultural institution and the school or schools for pre-vocational secondary education (including the international bridging classes), special education and practical education.
What can you apply for?
We support the development and implementation of a cultural education project in pre-vocational secondary education, special education and/or practical education. This involves activities such as the (further) development, preparation, implementation and evaluation of the cultural education project. The project is aimed at promoting the creative ability of the students. The basis of the project is the question of the school or schools and insight into which core objectives within education are being worked on and in what way.
Applications can also be made for educational projects that are aimed at digital content creation (digital born art) or where digital technology is an instrument in the cultural education process (for example working with AI).
The following effects are being worked on in the exploration:
This is the process in which multiple people work together towards the same goal; organizing between individuals and/or organizations. The goal is to achieve or realize something that the parties cannot achieve alone. This arrangement concerns the collaboration between the cultural institution and the vocational education institution, possibly with the lead partner. The project is successful if the collaboration between the cultural institution and the vocational education institution, possibly with the lead partner, has been strengthened.
This is the joint development and determination of a cultural education project or collaboration in it. The vision is a joint image, shared by all parties involved, that gives an expectation of the future relevant to cultural education. The project is successful if the vocational education institution and cultural institution have jointly developed a vision on the cultural education project and the collaboration.
Every child and young person of every background, origin or place of residence has an equal chance to learn about and with culture and to discover their own creative talents. This can be done within cultural education subjects but also more broadly in (citizenship) education. The project is successful if the activities have increased the equal opportunities of students.
This is developing the creative ability to find new and/or unusual but applicable solutions to existing problems. For example, think of fantasizing, playing, dreaming, empathizing, experimenting and reflecting. In this way, students learn to persevere, have courage, fail, feel discomfort and celebrate successes. But also think of the technical skills with which students can express themselves and shape their creative expressions. This creative ability is most strongly developed in a rich cultural learning environment in which young people are stimulated to come up with solutions themselves. The project is successful if the activities for the students contribute to their creative development.
This is increasing the ability of students to connect with the ideas, perspectives and backgrounds of others. To connect, you need to be open to different ways of thinking and doing. This will help you learn more about the world around you, increase your understanding and learn to work better together. The project is successful if the activities increase the students’ connection with the ideas, perspectives and backgrounds of others.
